Experience Matters
One of my personal coach/mentors, was a wonderful man named John Finney (of the Princeton Finneys). I once asked him, “What was the greatest, most helpful thing that Einstein ever said to you.” His response; “You can’t use the same mind to solve a problem that arrived at the problem. Had you had the capacity to solve the problem, you would have. When we run out of solutions, we need something outside our current understanding, something outside of our current awareness.” Leave it to Albert to take a complex concept and make it simple. The reality is this perspective is true of every emotional and mental health dilemma that man encounters. Limited awareness, ignorance if you will, has caused more emotional discomfort and needless suffering than every other source combined. In it's simplest form, that's how coaching works; two heads are always better than one.
